A Response to Salts Mill

The work currently being created, and pictured below, is a response to Salts Mill, Bradford that will come together as an exhibition with a variety of knitted artworks. After a trip to visit the mill, the work was then created as a direct response to the bookshop inside. The textile link as well as the shapes and colours of the architecture created a perfect exhibition space. The drawings were inspired by knitted pieces made before the visit, the colours of the project were chosen to compliment the space.

Collaged gouache paintings that have later been turned into knitted fabric, as seen through the image above. This is an example of a 4 colour 1x1 jacquard knit.

The above image shows the paintings that have inspired the jacquard knits (pictured on right) as well as monofilament yarn that has been knitted on a single bed machine to be later hand knitted.
